Emily Jones

Emily C. Jones is a native of Wilmington and enjoys calling this beautiful city home. She received her undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University, and graduated early from the Charlotte School of Law, with Honors, receiving her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude. Upon passing the bar, Emily immediately joined Burney & Jones, PLLC, where she practices primarily in the areas of Family, Criminal, and Juvenile Law. Subareas of practice include: Divorce (Absolute and from Bed and Board), Abuse/Neglect/Dependency Matters in DSS Court, Custody, Visitation, Child Support, Alimony/Post Separation Support, Equitable Distribution, Guardianship/Incompetency Matters, Termination of Parental Rights, Guardian ad Litem for A/N/D, TPR, and Custody matters, Separation Agreements, Legitimation, traffic tickets, DWIs, misdemeanor and felony offenses for both adults and juveniles, Wills, and Power of Attorney documents. Emily practices in both New Hanover and Pender Counties.

Emily is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and of the Family and Juvenile Law Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association. She is also a member of the New Hanover and Pender County Bars, and is an active volunteer. Emily volunteers with Teen Court and Mock Trial Competitions in New Hanover County, and has served in the capacity of a judge, an attorney mentor, and an assistant Mock Trial coach. She also volunteers with the Lawyers for Literacy Program.
